I’m just rediscovering that there is a good side to having regular working days: You actually get to enjoy your days off! Amazing news flash, isn’t it? You might think it’s strange that I’m pointing that out, but when I was working from home and took time off, there always was this nagging little pain in the back of my head, reminding me of stuff that’s waiting to be done.
Not so today. I had the day off instead of Saturday, and incredibly hubby was off, too (I’m sure had they known at his workplace that I was off, he’d have been working!!). To top it all, the weather was almost perfect for a nice walk with the camera. Almost, because those stupid high clouds were back, making the sky look really dull. But what the heck… it didn’t stop me from shooting! So off we went. We took some sandwiches with us and rode with hubby’s bike (to keep him happy
) until the terrain was too bad for biking with the wife in back. He would have gone on, had he been alone, no doubt!!
The photos aren’t exactly spectacular, mainly because that particular area (just outside the village of Gharb) is rather barren. It faces north and has to cope with harsh winds and the sea, and there’s hardly anything else but corroding rocks, dry grass and a few resilient plants. But the view over the sea is breathtaking. I love to look out at the open sea – it has an extremely tranquillising effect on me.
Out of 63 photos I took, 12 made it into my slide show; this one is my favourite:

I know exactly what you mean about enjoying the day off. I was just commenting that I NEVER have a day off. Since I don’t work my monday through to Sunday is the SAME!
For me to have a day off, I have to go away!
;-)
Lovely photo!
your beautiful photographs make me want to travel to gozo! what a perfect way to spend a well-earned day off :claphands:
after reading this post and before opening the picture clips i said to myself how on earth was her husband cycling the bike with Sabine at the back, is it physically possible with just a bicycle???? …… only after i realised that you where actually talking about a motorcycle
Cool photos !
Yeah, Sabine, I know how every day is the same – sometimes I didn’t realise it actually was the weekend!! In contrast to that I couldn’t get to grips with the fact that today was Tuesday (not Monday) all day long… LOL!
QDB, I’m glad my photos have the desired effect :D Come on over!!
Nadine, just now (better late than never) I realise how your name is related to your blog name LOL. I’m so blonde… Glad you like the photos. And yeah, the way I wrote about riding the bike was rather stupid, too. And now that you mentioned it, I get this really funny mental picture of an ageing couple shuffling ‘off-road’ through the wilderness on a little bicycle. LOL! For some reason I’m always saying bike when I mean motorbike or -cycle.
I love a somewhat barren landscape so I found your photographs spectacular. Truly beautiful to me.
