Good morning! Taddaaaaa: My laptop’s back to life! My habitual obstinacy probably saved me a chunk of money (although it cost me lots of sleep and almost my sanity!!). I had an awfully long session with the Windows recovery disk, and experienced a few ups and downs which probably would have caused a less stubborn person to throw the towel and take the baby to the doctor. Well, I didn’t, not even when Setup informed me it couldn’t format the hard disk because it was probably damaged! I must thank ‘Kiddo’ (a.k.a. the computer whiz kid!) from Malta Forums for pointing me into the right direction!!
This all happened between about noon on Sunday and 1.30 a.m. Monday… So it’s normal, I think, that yesterday I crashed out several times while installing software and listening to soothing music, among others Alan Parsons Project’s Tales of Mystery and Imagination. (The louder pieces thankfully shook me out of my doze and took me back to the task at hand :D ).
Soooo. Here are the promised photos from Greenwich (which I’ll always be tempted to spell Grinnich from now on!). I had only a few hours to my disposal on Saturday; Greenwich Park was within walking distance from The Clarendon, so it was (for me, anyway!) an easy decision to forfeit a shopping trip to central London in favour of seeing some greenery (not to mention those longed-for autumn colours!!), marvelling at Charles Shepherd’s over 150 years old clock – and of course the Prime Meridian. The latter, by the way, is so inconspicuous and tucked away that it took me a while to find it…
That day I walked for about 4 hours, if you know me, that’s quite an achievement for me.
Unfortunately it was a rather gloomy day, which was especially disappointing as the day before had offered deep-blue skies and lots of sunshine!

The Prime Meridian (I was surprised that this monument didn’t seem to be taken care of at all… )

Here’s where Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) is “made”:

Thank you for the tour! The fall colours look very nice, but after seeing them I now appreciate even more our Maltese/Gozitan weather!
Just wait a couple of years and you’ll appreciate why I found that walk so soothing (on the soul, not on my feet!!)
